[center]在2001年的个人首张英文专辑《Laundry Service》发行之后，哥伦比亚著名女歌手Shakira开始世界各地逐渐走红并逐渐成为当代拉丁流行音乐最有号召力的歌手之一。全名Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll的Shakira在1977年2月2曰出生在哥伦比亚Barranquilla的一个贫苦家庭。母亲是土生土长的哥伦比亚人，父亲有黎巴嫩血统。因此，Shakira从小便受到了两种文化的影响。同时，年轻的Shakira还对英文摇滚乐非常感兴趣，喜欢的乐队包括：齐柏林飞船（Led Zeppelin），披头士（the Beatles），警察（the Police），治疗（ the Cure）和涅磐（Nirvana）。

八岁时，Shakira写了自己的第一首歌同时开始参加歌唱大赛并多次获奖。11岁那年，Shakira学习吉他。之后由于唱歌“太过用力”，Shakira被开除出学校的合唱队。1990年，也就是Shakira 13岁那年，她来到哥伦比亚首都Bogota寻求模特方面的发展，但却意外同唱片公司相中签约。1991年的首张个人专辑《Magia》收录了他之前五六年中创作的歌曲。尽管专辑在国际上并没有引起过多地关注，但Shakira已经开始在国内小有名气。在1993年发行过专辑《Peligro》之后，Shakira在1994年加入到哥伦比亚肥皂剧“El Oasis”的演出当中。

1995年，Shakira重回录音室，这次她将更多的摇滚节奏和阿拉伯音乐元素融入到自己的音乐当中。同年，《Pies Descalzos》专辑推出。似乎歌迷们一开始还不太接受Shakira风格的变化，本张专辑刚开始卖的并不好。但随着专辑中摇滚味道十足的单曲《Estoy Aqui》的成功，《Pies Descalzos》专辑也开始热卖并先后在八个国家成为销量冠军，而且在美国最终也达到了白金销量。

为了取得更大的成功，Shakira请到了另一位著名拉丁女歌手Gloria Estefan的丈夫，著名制作人Emilio Estefan担任自己的经纪人和制作人。事实证明，Shakira这次煞费苦心的决定是非常成功的。1998年发行的专辑《Donde Estan los Ladrones?》比上张专辑获得了更大的成功，更重要的是，这张专辑使Shakira打开了财源滚滚的美国市场。《Donde Estan los Ladrones?》在当年美国Billboard拉丁专辑榜中连续十一周位居榜首，专辑中的歌曲《Ciega, Sordomuda》和《Tu》成为Billboard拉丁单曲榜冠军单曲。

随后，Shakira开始苦学英语。2000年初，Shakira发行现场不插电专辑《MTV Unplugged》。本张专辑成为Shakira第三张白金专辑并在当年为她赢得唯一一座格莱美奖杯。在当年的首届拉丁格莱美奖的评选中，Shakira获得“最佳流行女歌手”和“最佳摇滚女歌手”两项大奖。得奖之后的Shakira并没有休息，而是很快的投入到首张英文专辑《Laundry Service》的准备工作中。专辑中首支单曲《Whenever, Wherever》在2001年末首先发行，并在单曲榜中排在第六位。这首单曲使Shakira一夜之间在全世界走红。《Laundry Service》在美国流行音乐榜上最高名列第三位，专辑中另一首单曲《Underneath Your Clothes》也在单曲榜中打入前十，最终名列第九。《Laundry Service》专辑发行不到一年就已达到三百的销量。Shadira也凭借本张专辑奠定了自己在在当代流行音乐界的地位。

随后的三年中，在发行过混音专辑和现场专辑之后，Shakira重整旗鼓，一口气为下一张专辑准备了60多首歌曲，英语西班牙语各半。最终，Shakira选中了其中的20多首歌曲。今年6月，Shakira发行西班牙语专辑《Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1》。仅不到半年，Shakira又发行了最新英语专辑《Oral Fixation, Vol. 2》。
